Individual athlete feeds are being tinkered with as we speak, watch this space …

Getting things a bit personal ….

Filed under: GAM — admin @ 11:09 pm

GAM now has the ability for registered users ( who are logged in ) to set their preferences for the units used on the displays within GAM.

After you have logged on a new tab will be available for “Settings” (see pic)

Selecting this ta b, allows access to the member settings page, which although a bit sparse at the moment , currently allows the settings of the following :

When your preferences are set then these will be used for all of the screens you see ( whilst you are logged on ), including the activity lists..

What other personal preferences would be useful?, let me know…

What’s in a name?

Filed under: Feature Requests, GAM — admin @ 2:44 pm

Well everything it seems. A number of GAM users have requested the ability to rename their activities on the website. It would appear that whereas they are happy to have activities names in a certain way within their personal ST2 training log, they want a different title when they expose it on the GAM website.

The functionality to do this has now been added, instructions as follows :

- Firstly as the activity is going to be updated, you need to be logged in first. It goes without saying that you can only rename your own activities !.

- When viewing an activity place your mouse over the activity name - the background of the title name will now go RED.

Activity Name Edit #1

- Click the name when it is highlighted in RED to edit

Activity Name Edit #2

- Enter the new name and click “OK” or click “cancel” to keep the existing name

That’s all there is to it.

..and then it was gone.

Filed under: GAM — admin @ 12:05 am

I recently received a number of request for the ability to delete activities that had been loaded to GAM. In order to do this I had to complete the user administration functions so it took a little while, but here it is.

To delete an activity you will first need to login, notice the new and improved login link at the top right of the screen.

Login Link

Click on the link to take you to the login screen :

Login Screen

After logging in, when viewing one of your activities, you will now see a “delete” link at the top right of the screen.

Delete Activity Link

To delete the activity click the link and you will get a confirmation screen as below :

Delete Confirmation

To stop the delete process click the “cancel” button, otherwise click the “delete” button to remove the activity.

Once an activity has been deleted there is no way of restoring other than uploading it from SportTracks again.

Athlete Maps

Filed under: GAM — admin @ 11:22 pm

A new feature has been added to the Athlete logs section of the site. It is now possible to see the activities in the latest entry list displayed on a map. Look in the top right of the screen and you will see a new button “Toggle Map”.

Athlete Log

If you click the button a new map is displayed with all the entries from the previous list marked. Clicking on any of the map pointers reveals the name of the activity, which in turn can be clicked to go the actual activity page.

If only …..

Filed under: Feature Requests, GAM — admin @ 5:14 pm

If only I could beat my 10K PB, if only I didnt hate hills, if only I could run as fast as I did when I was 20…

Sorry can’t help you on any of those , but we should be able to help make GAM do the things you want it to. If you think the GAM site is lacking that bit of “killer” functionality, post a comment and let us know.

GAM Account Profiles

Filed under: GAM — admin @ 11:21 pm

Every member of GAM has an associated Account Profile. The profile acts like a type of membership level and controls the actions you can perform on the GAM service.

Initially the profile controls how many activities you can load to the website.

GAM Settings Panel

Why do we do this? Is it because we are mean and controlling? No not at all, the reason is that we need to get an indication of how scalable the solution we have implemented is.

The reality of life is that webservers cost money.

The disk space your activities take up cost money, the bandwidth consumed each time you upload an activity or view it on the website costs money too. We are hopeful that the revenue created by the ads on the site will be sufficient to finance the site, so please do click on any ads that are of interest to you.

As we progress through the Beta test phase of this product we will get more of an idea of how this will work out, hopefully we will be able to increase people account allocation in the near future.

Configuring the plugin #2

Filed under: GAM — admin @ 11:01 pm

OK, you have got the software installed and your membership details entered, what more is left to be setup?

Well nothing really, everything else in the settings for GAM is optional., the settings panel does however show you some information that is useful for managing your account.

Your settings panel will look a bit like the image below :

GAM Settings Panel

The first option controls what happens after you upload an activity to GAM. By default SportTracks just lets you carry on working with your activity. If however you check the box, each time you upload an activity SportTracks will display that activity in the browser built in to the SportTracks application. Some people find that disruptive, so its up to you how you set this.

The section below shows you information about your Account Profile. Your Account Profile controls your membership level and controls how much data you can store on GAM. The panel shows you current usage and your maximum allowance.

More information on Account Profiles is available here.
